12″ x 18″ mixed-media on wood panel.
First I paint on a live model using black liquid makeup and a 1-inch flat brush to create a unique visual language. The result is photographed, the human flesh is Photoshopped out so only the armature of brush marks remains. It is then digitally printed onto walnut panels and finished by hand to create a new and unique mixed-media painting. The final materials used are acrylic paint, black pigment-based ink, black permanent marker, and white opaque gel pen. The eclectic range of materials both covers the breadth of, and defines a new space in, a journey of office-materials as fine art tools.
An amazing byproduct: the Mercy 18 music video
As I sat down to edit the photography and reference footage taken when I painted my model, it immediately became apparent that I had another creation in the works. I had just finished an experimental music composition that screamed for this to be its fine art music video! Watch here: MERCY 18
